There are many beliefs related to resume writing that are actually not true. π
1οΈβ£ Myth: Resume should be one page
π’ No, unless you are fresh out of college/university with no experience
2οΈβ£ Myth: It should include your personal address
π’ No, the city and country info is enough
3οΈβ£ Myth: Resume should include your entire work history
π’ No, especially if you have 20+ years of career
4οΈβ£ Myth: You should hide your work gaps
π’ Never do that, always explain your employment gaps
5οΈβ£ Myth: Resume layout and design donβt matter
π’ Oh, they do, resume MUST be well-presented (easy to read and find important info)
6οΈβ£ Myth: Resume should be as general as possible to increase your chances of getting hired
π’ The opposite is true
7οΈβ£ Myth: A great resume will get you a job
π’ Not necessarily; a good resume will get you an interview, which is the first step
8οΈβ£ Myth: You should give/send everyone your resume
π’ You shouldn't; take care of your privacy, choose recruiters wisely, and donβt display your resume on LinkedIn
