But is your hard work enough to get you promoted to the executive level and above?
What many people don’t realize timely is this:
💡The person who manages you directly is your ticket to the level above. 💡
Yes, if you succeed in turning your direct manager into your mentor, this will have a massive impact on your future ladder-climbing success.
So how do you find a manager – your future mentor, who would push your career forward?
🟢 If you’re hoping for an internal promotion, then you already have built a relationship with your boss, hopefully, a good one.
🟢 But, if you are in the job search phase, follow these tips:
1️⃣ Try to find out more about your prospective manager during the interview process. How does he/she behave? Is he/she fully involved? It would be great if you could get any inside info about a person and what people think of him/her.
2️⃣ Pay attention to your first impression. If the things don’t seem quite right, they probably are not. Trust your inner feeling, and ask the right questions to be sure whether you belong to a specific company or not.
3️⃣ Ask how he/she support the career development of his/her team. This is an excellent indicator to reveal the manager’s leadership style.
Having (and finding) a great manager will undoubtedly put your career in the fast lane forward; that’s why building and maintaining meaningful professional relationships is so important.
Work smarter, not harder. 🍀
