Here is what messages I find in my inbox daily:
"Hey Olivera, I've applied for more than 100 jobs in the last few months with no reply, what should I do??? I'm going crazy…"
When I dig deeper, here is what I find:
🔴 They believed that serial applying for any job they find online is the way to go
🔴 They have an uncomplete general resume checked by their friends/family/gf/bf/their dog (btw, they said it's awesome)
🔴 They apply mostly through job boards
🔴 They have no clue how to build a network and connect with other professionals
Is this you?
Stop playing the numbers game because you're not going to win.
Save your time and nerves, and do this instead:
🟢 Find 3 job postings that you're at least an 80% fit for weekly
🟢 Research the roles and companies, find connections with your background
🟢 Prepare your job search tools (resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile, bio, portfolio…)
🟢 Reach out and get advice from a professional
🟢 Connect with people who work at those companies, and others who are in the field you're interested in
🟢 Press that apply button once you're absolutely sure that your application is the best it can be
Job search is a strategy game, forget the numbers! Except when you are negotiating your salary 🙂
Work smarter, not harder. 🍀
